Hoodrich: Marketing for Birmingham's Biggest Streetwear Brand

How we helped one of Birmingham's most iconic streetwear labels amplify their digital presence, coordinate influencer campaigns and connect with a global audience.

Hoodrich streetwear brand marketing by Merlins Group

A Birmingham Brand with Global Ambition

Hoodrich is more than a streetwear label. Born and raised in Birmingham, the brand has grown from a grassroots operation into one of the UK's most recognised names in urban fashion. With stockists across the country and a fiercely loyal following online, Hoodrich represents a new wave of British streetwear that blends authenticity with ambition.

When Merlins Group began working with Hoodrich, the brand already had serious momentum. What they needed was a structured social media marketing and content creation strategy that could match the pace of their growth and translate their Birmingham identity into a message that resonated globally.

Understanding the Streetwear Audience

Streetwear marketing is a different game. The audience is younger, more culturally aware, and highly attuned to what feels real versus what feels manufactured. They follow trends but respect originality. They engage with brands that feel like movements rather than companies.

Our first step was immersing ourselves in the Hoodrich community. We studied their existing audience demographics, engagement patterns, and the cultural conversations their followers were having. This research informed every decision that followed, from the tone of captions to the timing of posts.

We used data science and analytics tools to map audience behaviour across platforms, identifying the exact moments when engagement peaked and the content formats that generated the most meaningful interactions. This was not guesswork. Every strategy was backed by data.

Social Media Content Calendar

Consistency is everything in streetwear. Drops, restocks, collaborations and cultural moments all need to be planned and amplified in real time. We built a comprehensive content calendar for Hoodrich that mapped out every post, story and reel weeks in advance while leaving room for reactive content.

The Calendar Framework

The content calendar became the backbone of the entire operation. It gave the Hoodrich team visibility into what was coming, ensured nothing was missed, and allowed us to measure what worked over time.

Instagram & TikTok Strategy

Instagram and TikTok are the two platforms where streetwear brands live or die. Each has its own language, and what works on one rarely translates directly to the other. We developed platform-specific strategies for Hoodrich that played to the strengths of each.

Instagram

On Instagram, we focused on visual storytelling. High-quality product photography, lifestyle shoots featuring real people in real settings, and carefully crafted grid aesthetics that made the Hoodrich profile feel like a curated magazine. We introduced a consistent visual identity across all posts, using specific colour grading, typography overlays and composition guidelines.

Reels became a major focus. We produced short-form video content showcasing outfit transitions, behind-the-scenes warehouse footage, and hype-building countdowns for upcoming drops. Every Reel was optimised with trending audio, strategic hashtags and engagement hooks in the first three seconds.

TikTok

TikTok required a completely different approach. Here, authenticity trumps production value. We shifted the tone to feel more raw and spontaneous while still maintaining brand quality. Content included fit checks, day-in-the-life warehouse content, styling challenges and community reaction videos.

We identified trending sounds and formats early, adapting them for Hoodrich before they became saturated. This speed-to-market approach helped several TikTok posts achieve viral reach, bringing in tens of thousands of new followers who had never encountered the brand before.

Influencer Coordination

Influencer marketing is integral to streetwear. But it has to feel organic. We developed an influencer strategy for Hoodrich that focused on micro and mid-tier creators who genuinely wore and loved the brand, rather than chasing celebrity endorsements that could feel disconnected.

The result was a network of authentic brand advocates who created content that felt natural in their feeds. This approach drove significant organic reach and contributed to a measurable increase in website traffic from social platforms.

Paid Social Campaigns

Organic reach only takes you so far. To scale Hoodrich's presence and drive direct revenue, we built and managed paid media campaigns across Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok Ads.

Campaign Architecture

We structured campaigns around a full-funnel approach. Top-of-funnel campaigns used short-form video and lifestyle imagery to build awareness among new audiences. Mid-funnel campaigns retargeted engaged users with product-specific content and social proof. Bottom-of-funnel campaigns drove conversions with dynamic product ads and limited-time offers.

Creative Testing

In streetwear, creative fatigue happens fast. We ran continuous A/B tests across ad formats, copy variations and audience segments. Every week, new creative was introduced to keep the campaigns fresh and prevent diminishing returns.

Performance Highlights

Brand Photography Direction

Photography is the visual language of any streetwear brand, and Hoodrich needed imagery that felt as sharp as the clothes themselves. We provided creative direction for brand photography, ensuring every shoot aligned with the broader marketing strategy.

Every image we produced served multiple purposes. A single shoot could generate weeks of social content, ad creative and website assets. This efficiency was critical for maintaining the volume of content a streetwear brand demands.

Birmingham Roots, Global Reach

What makes the Hoodrich story compelling is that it is fundamentally a Birmingham story. The brand was built in this city, and its identity is inseparable from its origins. Our job was never to dilute that. It was to amplify it.

We leaned into Birmingham as a creative asset. Shoots in the Jewellery Quarter, content featuring Birmingham's skyline, and messaging that celebrated the city's role in UK streetwear culture. This approach resonated not just locally but globally. International audiences connected with the authenticity of a brand that knows where it comes from.

This same approach to authentic local storytelling has informed our work with other retail and fashion clients, including IceBank Jewellers, another Birmingham brand where we combined digital strategy with genuine cultural understanding to drive real results.

The Merlins Group Approach

Working with Hoodrich reinforced what we believe about marketing: strategy without cultural understanding is just noise. Every brand exists within a community, and the best marketing speaks the language of that community fluently.

At Merlins Group, we bring together content creation, paid media expertise, influencer coordination and data-driven decision making into a single, integrated service. We do not just post content. We build systems that grow brands.

If your brand is ready to scale its digital presence with a team that understands both the data and the culture, we should talk.
